Choose how you want to take part

You can plan a private home garden, learn at public beds, volunteer, or grow a share for food support. Pick the path that fits now; you can add more later.

Households and individual gardeners

Plan my own garden

Describe your beds, choose the kind of garden you want, and get a staged year plan plus this-week jobs.

You can use the planner without volunteering; exact address details should stay optional.

New and returning volunteers

Volunteer at public gardens

Start with public teaching sessions, then register interest if you want supervised buddy work at other gardens.

Start with public sessions; private sites require approval and a buddy window.

Volunteer access ladder

  • Drop-in learner: attend public teaching sessions before sharing private details.
  • Registered volunteer: save contact details and join supervised public or approved buddy windows.
  • Approved helper: attend non-public gardens only when a staff member or senior volunteer is scheduled.
  • Senior volunteer or staff: may be assigned to private-property gardens and visible only to approved helpers.

Gardeners with spare beds or surplus

Grow for the food bank

Use the planner to allocate a bed, partial bed, or seasonal surplus for food-bank growing and seedling support.

Only share what you choose; harvest pledges should be confirmed after household needs and crop quality are known.

Homegrown clients and families

Join homegrown learning

Use hub learning beds, seedlings, and public guidance to practise skills before taking them home.

Learning-bed allocation can be handled separately from public volunteering or private-site work.
